Honoring Our Past. Inspiring Our Future.
Women's Equality Day commemorates the anniversary of the certification of the 19th Amendment on August 26, 1920, guaranteeing women the constitutional right to vote.
Founded that same year, the League of Women Voters has spent more than a century empowering voters and defending democracy through education, advocacy, and civic engagement.
Today, that mission is more important than ever. As we celebrate the achievements of the suffragists, we also reaffirm our commitment to:
• Empowering every voter through trusted, nonpartisan education.
• Encouraging civic participation throughout Broward County.
• Promoting informed voting through Vote411.org, the League's comprehensive, nonpartisan voter guide.
• Inspiring the next generation to carry forward the work of protecting our democracy.
Honor Their Legacy—Vote!
This celebration comes during an important election year, making the message of Women's Equality Day especially meaningful.
The women of the suffrage movement fought for more than seven decades to secure the right to vote. Their perseverance reminds us that democracy is strongest when every eligible citizen participates.
One of the most powerful ways we can honor their legacy is by casting our ballots and encouraging others to do the same.
Before you head to the polls, visit Vote411.org—the League of Women Voters' trusted, nonpartisan "one-stop shop" for election information. There you'll find personalized ballot information, candidate responses, polling locations, voting deadlines, and everything you need to vote with confidence.
Their generation fought for the right to vote. Our generation must protect it by using it.
Celebrate With Us!
Whether you're a longtime League member, a history enthusiast, or simply passionate about civic engagement, we hope you'll join us for this memorable evening of theater, music, and fellowship.
